Enviro Infra Engineers jumped 10% after bagging new orders worth ₹306 crore and stepping into the solar game.
The company specialises in designing, building, operating, and maintaining water and wastewater treatment plants & water supply projects for government bodies.
The deets: the order win pertains to a big EPC contract to construct multiple sewage treatment plants. These plants will come with 15 years of operation and maintenance, giving the company a long runway of recurring revenue.
But the real kicker is that the company is now making its debut in the clean energy space.
EIEL has announced two major solar energy forays totalling 69 MW of capacity.
- It will acquire Vento Power Infra’s 40 MW solar project in Bolangir, Odisha for ₹115.61 crore.
- Separately, its green energy arm, EIE Renewables, has picked up Soltrix Energy Solution’s 29 MW solar project in Maharashtra, backed by a deal with Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL).
Why it matters: by adding solar power to its existing expertise in infrastructure and utilities, Enviro is tapping into one of India’s fastest-growing sectors.
The company already works closely with government agencies for water infrastructure. This gives it an edge when bidding for solar projects too, especially since many renewable energy contracts are also government-backed.
Big theme: the Indian government has set an ambitious target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030, of which 280 GW is expected to come from solar power alone.
As of March 2025, the country has installed over 82 GW of solar capacity, up from just 2.6 GW in 2014. That means solar alone accounts for more than 15% of India’s total installed power capacity, and the momentum is picking up. This is driven by both utility-scale solar parks and distributed rooftop projects.
