Bharat Dynamics’ Q1 profit jumps over 6x

Bharat Dynamics delivered a strong Q1, with profit jumping more than six-fold as missile and defence equipment sales picked up sharply.

The numbers:

Net profit: ₹118.8 crore vs ₹18.4 crore last year (that’s 546% jump)

Revenue: ₹572.2 crore, up from ₹247.9 crore

EBITDA: ₹83.1 crore vs a loss of ₹45.4 crore

Decoding earnings: the company earned ₹103.4 crore in other income, taking its total income to ₹675.7 crore. So while the core business improved substantially, other income also helped the bottom line.

In June, BDL secured contracts worth ₹1,347.71 crore from Hindustan Aeronautics (HAL).

The biggest chunk, worth ₹1,109.37 crore, is for Helina launchers and related equipment. Another ₹238.34 crore is for equipment used in countermeasure dispensing systems, which help military aircraft defend themselves against incoming threats.

These orders will be executed over 24 to 60 months, giving BDL revenue visibility beyond the current quarter.
