Emergent raises $23M to simplify app creation

Emergent has raised $23 million in Series A funding led by Lightspeed, with participation from Together Fund, Y Combinator, Prosus Ventures.

What they do: in a world crowded with social media apps, Emergent stands out. Founded by twin brothers Mukund and Madhav Jha, the startup wants to do for app creation what Instagram did for content sharing, making it simple, social, and accessible. With just prompts, anyone, even non-techies can build their own app.

What’s brewing: the startup plans to expand its team, deepen R&D, and scale globally, including growing its presence in North America through a new hub in Palo Alto.

Big theme: India’s low-code/no-code market, valued at ~$400 million in FY21, could reach $4 billion by 2025, growing at ~28% annually. With global projections hitting $207 billion by 2032, India is well-positioned. Startups like Replit, Lovable are driving this shift, making app creation accessible, localised, and powered by AI for millions.
