Indian semiconductor startup raises ₹25 cr

Chip design startup Sensesemi Technologies raised ₹25 crore in a seed funding round led by Piper Serica.

Sensesemi is a government-approved chip design startup that builds smart chips for factories, vehicles, and medical devices.

The deets: the capital will go into chip tape-outs, reference designs, and expanding the engineering team.

The company is also working on an analog AI inference processor, which cuts power use sharply and enables multi-year battery life, even in implantable and battery-operated devices.

Why it matters: power efficiency is the biggest bottleneck in edge AI. By combining AI, connectivity, and analog processing on a single chip, Sensesemi is positioning itself as a low-power alternative to global players like Netrasemi, Edgecortix, and Blumind.

Zoom out: the global edge-AI chipset market is expected to ship 5–7 billion units annually by 2030. As devices get smarter and more localised, demand for energy-efficient, on-device AI silicon is only getting started.
