India’s rubber sector had a solid FY25. Area under rubber cultivation rose to 9.39 lakh hectares, yields improved to 1,500 kg per hectare, and total production touched 8.75 lakh tonnes.
A big chunk of this came from Ribbed Smoked Sheet, which made up 63% of natural rubber output.
In simple terms, better farming practices and higher productivity helped the sector grow without dramatic expansion.
Trade also picked up pace. Imports jumped 11.8% to 5.51 lakh tonnes, mainly from Côte d’Ivoire, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Thailand, with a total import bill of ₹9,021 crore.
Exports improved too, with 4,839 tonnes shipped out, largely to Sri Lanka, while rubber product exports hit ₹43,202 crore. The growth was driven by more plantation area, higher productivity, and steady institutional and technology support, making FY25 a quietly strong year for Indian rubber.
