Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has signed an MoU with US-based Holtec International’s Asia arm to jointly design and build advanced heat transfer equipment for power plants. The deal strengthens their ongoing partnership in small modular reactor (SMR) technology.
Heat transfer equipment helps move heat safely and efficiently inside power plants. For example, carrying heat from fuel or steam to generate electricity without wasting energy.
The deets: the collaboration will merge L&T’s nuclear manufacturing strength with Holtec’s engineering design expertise to deliver solutions for nuclear and thermal power plants worldwide.
This includes developing systems that improve thermal regulation, boost efficiency, and ensure safe, reliable operation of energy plants.
Why it matters: this partnership supports the global energy transition by promoting cleaner, more efficient nuclear technology.
With the US Department of Energy’s 810 Authorisation, L&T can now export nuclear tech components to Holtec-led projects globally.
