Samvardhana Motherson strengthens auto wiring with €207M buy

Samvardhana Motherson International has approved the acquisition of the automotive wiring business of Nexans autoelectric GmbH and Elektrokontact GmbH in a deal worth €207 million (approximately $242.2 million).

FYI: the acquisition will be carried out through Motherson’s indirect wholly owned subsidiary.

Nexans autoelectric and Elektrokontact design and manufacture wiring systems, electrical parts, and connectivity solutions that are used by global vehicle makers. 

These wiring systems are a critical part of how modern cars and commercial vehicles function, powering everything from engines to electronics.

The why: this acquisition will strengthen Motherson’s global wiring harness business across both passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles. In simple terms, it helps Motherson expand its footprint and capabilities in one of the most important parts of automotive manufacturing.

The combined operations are also expected to speed up innovation, especially in newer powertrain technologies, including electric vehicles. By bringing these teams together, Motherson aims to jointly develop next-generation wiring solutions, and still remain flexible and cost-efficient.
