Maruti Suzuki is going big in Gujarat. The automaker plans to invest ₹35,000 crore in a new plant.
What’s poppin’: the facility could add up to 1 million vehicles a year in capacity, helping Maruti meet rising demand in India and ramp up exports.
Production is expected to begin in FY2029, adding to Maruti’s existing annual capacity of 2.4 million vehicles.
Big theme: exports are a key part of the momentum. Maruti shipped 3,95,000 vehicles in 2025, its best-ever calendar year, up over 21% YoY. It also remained India’s top passenger vehicle exporter for the fifth straight year, sending 18 models to 100+ countries.
The export curve has been bumpy but upward: a huge 140%+ jump in 2021, slower growth in 2022 (28%) and 2023 (just over 2%), then a comeback in 2024 (21%+) that continued into 2025.
