Aequs to make Airbus and Boeing aircraft parts with France-based compay

Indian aerospace manufacturer Aequs has signed long-term supply agreements with French aerospace giant Safran to manufacture critical aircraft components in India.

Safran makes aircraft engines, landing gear and other important aviation equipment used by some of the world's biggest aircraft manufacturers.

The deets: as per the agreement, Aequs will manufacture specialised components for Airbus A320, A330, A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft programmes.

The work includes making parts from superalloys, which are special metals designed to withstand extreme heat and pressure. The company will also handle precision machining, protective coatings and the assembly of landing gear components.

Why it matters: aircraft components require extremely high precision and strict safety standards. Winning such contracts gives Indian manufacturers an opportunity to become long-term suppliers to global aviation companies.

Big picture: according to a Frost & Sullivan industry report, India's commercial aerospace manufacturing market was valued at around ₹13,051 crore in 2024 and is projected to reach ₹25,709 crore by 2030, growing nearly 12% annually.

This creates opportunities for Indian companies to move beyond making basic aircraft parts to producing complex, high-value components.

And the wider defence manufacturing sector is expanding too. India's defence production reached ₹1.78 lakh crore in FY26, while defence exports touched a record ₹38,424 crore.
