Chalet Hotels has acquired Inder Residency Resort & Spa in Udaipur for ₹171 crore, making a foray into Rajasthan.
The why: the K Raheja Corp-owned company operates 11 hotels and is expanding into high-growth leisure markets with a premium focus.
Its latest acquisition, Inder Residency Resort (144 rooms across 8.2 acres), will be upgraded into an upscale lifestyle destination, with plans to unlock value through refurbishment and expansion.
Competitive landscape: India’s hospitality sector is set to reach nearly $28 billion by 2026, driven by rising domestic travel, experiential stays, and infrastructure growth, with luxury leading the way.
In hotspots like Udaipur, a major leisure and wedding destination, investments are picking up pace, with multiple players expanding. Even giants like Indian Hotels Company Limited are scaling aggressively, targeting 700+ hotels by 2030.
