KEC International has bagged fresh orders worth ₹1,150 crore, marking its largest-ever India transmission & distribution win.
The deets: the company secured a composite turnkey order from a reputed private player for a 765 kV transmission line and a 765/400 kV air-insulated substation.
In simple terms, this is infrastructure that moves huge amounts of electricity over long distances and then safely steps it down so it can be distributed to cities and industries.
On the side, KEC’s civil business also won an order for incremental civil and structural works at a 150 MW thermal power plant.
A 150 MW thermal power plant facility can generate enough power to supply electricity to lakhs of homes.
Why it matters: as India ramps up grid capacity to support renewables, data centres, and rising power demand, large transmission projects are becoming mission-critical.
India’s inter-regional transfer capacity has climbed to more than 116,000 MW, up sharply from about 75,000 MW a decade ago, showing how much more electricity the grid can now move between regions.
Market check: the stock gained more than 2% reacting to the news.
