The startup fixing medical scans got a funding boost

Healthtech startup CARPL.ai has raised $10 million in a Series A funding round led by the International Finance Corporation (IFC), with participation from existing investor Stellaris Venture Partners and other investors.

What does the company do: think of a hospital where a radiologist has to review hundreds of X-rays, CT scans and MRIs every day. There are now hundreds of AI tools that can help detect problems like cancer, fractures, strokes or lung diseases, but most hospitals struggle to use them because each tool comes from a different company and needs separate integration.

CARPL.ai solves that problem.

Founded in 2018 by Vidur Mahajan, the startup has built a single AI platform where hospitals can discover, deploy and manage all these medical imaging AI tools in one place. Today, its marketplace hosts 300+ AI applications from over 100 vendors, allowing hospitals to pick the AI tools they need without juggling multiple systems.

The company already serves 30 hospitals and medical centres across North America, Europe, the Middle East, India, Southeast Asia, Australia and Latin America. Its customers include the Singapore government, RadNet, I-MED Radiology, Fleury, Medica and the Clinton Health Access Initiative in India.

The deets: this marks CARPL.ai's biggest funding round after raising $6 million in 2023.

The fresh capital will be used to strengthen its AI platform, launch new products, hire more engineering talent in India and expand its global sales and delivery teams.

The company also plans to grow its partner network and expand further across North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and other emerging markets, while building AI products in India that can be deployed by hospitals worldwide.

Why does this matter: medical imaging, everything from X-rays and MRIs to CT scans, accounts for more than 80% of all healthcare data. But the number of scans is growing much faster than the number of radiologists available to interpret them.

Although more than 1,000 AI-powered radiology tools have already been approved globally, hospitals often don't use them at scale because managing dozens of different AI systems is complicated. CARPL.ai is betting that a single platform can make AI adoption far simpler, helping doctors diagnose patients faster and more efficiently.

The funding also reflects growing investor confidence in India's healthtech sector. In recent months, startups like Mykare and Gabit have also raised fresh capital, as the country's healthtech market is projected to become a $37 billion opportunity by 2030.
