HCLTech’s software business, HCLSoftware, will buy 100% of Croatia-based Robotiq.ai for €9 million, or roughly $10.2 million through its wholly owned Austrian subsidiary. The deal will be fully paid for in cash and is expected to close by the end of November 2026.
Robotiq.ai builds software that automates repetitive computer tasks like copying data, filling forms and updating records for banks, insurers and telecom companies.
The why: HCLSoftware already has an agentic AI platform called HCL UnO Agentic.
Agentic AI is supposed to go beyond answering questions. It can understand a goal, decide what needs to happen next and coordinate different steps to get the job done.
The catch: knowing what to do and actually doing it inside a company’s old software systems are two different things.
Many companies still use old software that AI can’t directly work with. Robotiq.ai acts like AI’s hands, opening apps, clicking buttons and entering data to get the job done.
So HCLTech wants to combine HCL UnO Agentic as the brain and Robotiq.ai as the hands.
Businesses don’t just want an AI chatbot telling an employee what to do. They want AI that can understand a task, make decisions and then safely complete the work across different company systems without messing things up.
The numbers: Robotiq.ai is still relatively small.
The company reported €1.4 million in revenue in 2025, up from €900,000 in each of the previous two years. It also made around €200,000 in net profit.
At a €9 million enterprise value, HCLTech is paying roughly 6.4 times Robotiq.ai’s 2025 revenue.
Zoom out: this deal reflects a much bigger shift happening across enterprise AI.
For the last few years, companies have largely experimented with AI through chatbots, copilots and content-generation tools. Now, the focus is moving towards AI agents that can actually complete business processes.
But for that to happen at scale, companies need AI that can work across dozens of old and new applications, follow business rules and leave a clear audit trail.
That is the gap HCLTech is trying to fill with Robotiq.ai.
