Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has won a ₹122.6 crore contract to implement the next phase of the Odisha State Workflow Automation System (OSWAS), extending its partnership with the Odisha government by around six years.
OSWAS is the Odisha government’s digital system for processing files, correspondence and administrative work, helping departments reduce paperwork and make decisions faster.
The deets: TCS will implement OSWAS 3.0, bringing workflow automation, system integration, analytics, security and artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities onto a common digital platform.
TCS has been working on OSWAS since 2009, helping replace paper-based files and manual follow-ups with digital processes. Today, the system is used across more than 4,600 government offices by nearly 50,000 users across Odisha.
Officials can use the platform to process files, give approvals electronically, track workflows in real time and access government records.
What changes with OSWAS 3.0: the upgraded platform will add AI-enabled features, a mobile-first design and support for the Odia language. It will also integrate with other government systems, giving departments a common digital workplace for administrative tasks.
The new version will also use a microservices-based architecture, which essentially makes it easier to upgrade and manage different parts of the platform independently.
Zoom out: TCS has been stacking up deals and AI partnerships. In Q1FY27 alone, it won $10 billion in deals, including an $800 million SKF deal, while its AI revenue run rate hit $2.6 billion.
Since June, it has announced partnerships with Anthropic, Tottenham, ABB, NVIDIA and Google Cloud.
