Praj Industries is stepping deeper into biotech. It has set up a new lab that uses advanced fermentation technology to support future innovations and help India move towards cleaner, low-carbon manufacturing.
What’s happening: this isn’t just another lab. It’s built for high-capacity, AI-enabled fermentation, which means faster processes and better efficiency.
The facility will power Praj and its subsidiary, Praj HiPurity Systems, to offer advanced fermentation solutions across industries, think pharma, food, cosmetics, biofuels, and even beverages.
Praj has also partnered with the National Centre for Cell Science (BRIC-NCCS), aligning with the government’s BioE3 initiative, a push to grow biotechnology for the economy, environment, and jobs.
Big picture: India is building its biotech capabilities for the long term. With rising demand for cleaner fuels, sustainable chemicals, and bio-based products, the focus is on turning research into real-world manufacturing.
This will position India as a serious player in the global bioeconomy, with a target of reaching $300 billion by 2030.
