Tata Steel is going all in on AI, and it’s doing it with Google Cloud.
What’s happening: the company has partnered with Google Cloud to scale up automation across its global operations. Tata Steel plans to roll out over 300 specialised AI agents in just nine months to improve efficiency and precision.
AI is now helping the company predict when machines need maintenance, respond faster to customers, and simplify complex processes that usually take time and manpower.
Tata Steel is using something called agentic AI to cut down on routine tasks and reduce bottlenecks. For example, its in-house Tata Steel Digital Assistant (TDA) now handles over 70% of employee HR queries on its own, saving time and effort for teams.
Background: this shift is already in motion. Tata Steel has built over 550 AI models and is now rolling out 300+ AI agents rapidly.
AI is helping automate up to 80% of routine tasks, cut costs, and improve efficiency. It shows that even heavy industries are no longer experimenting, AI is now becoming a core part of how large businesses operate and scale.
