Sterlite Technologies’ subsidiary has secured a massive $1.11 billion deal from a hyperscale client for the multi-year supply of optical connectivity products.
Hyperscalers are tech giants like Amazon, Google and Microsoft that operate massive cloud networks and data centres across the world.
The contract, running from FY27 to FY29, will support the buildout of AI data centre infrastructure in the US.
Big picture: global AI spending has exploded in recent years, with companies investing billions into new infrastructure. The US currently leads the AI infrastructure race, followed by China, while Europe still lags behind.
Both the US and China saw a sharp rise in AI computing capacity in 2024, with the US widening its lead further in the first half of 2025.
