Vodafone Idea Limited will be one of the top stocks that will be closely watched today after the government revised and lowered its adjusted gross revenue (AGR) dues.
Context: AGR dues are payments telecom companies like Vodafone Idea owe the government based on their total revenue, including non-telecom income, as part of their licence fees.
What’s going on: After the Supreme Court asked the government to review concerns raised by telecom operators on AGR calculations, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) reassessed the numbers.
It finalised the company’s AGR liability at ₹64,046 crore as of December 31, 2025, down from the earlier estimate of ₹87,695 crore.
On top of that, Vodafone Idea doesn’t have to pay this money right away.
Instead, it will start with small payments of at least ₹100 crore a year from FY32, and only begin larger repayments later, spread out between FY36 and FY41.
In simple terms, most of the big payments are pushed far into the future, giving the company breathing space for now.
Why it matters: this is important because Vodafone Idea is already struggling with high debt, low cash, and tough competition. While this relief helps in the short term, the total dues are still huge, so its long-term challenges remain.
