What is Mission Drishti?

Bengaluru-based space startup GalaxEye has launched Mission Drishti, a 190 kg satellite aboard SpaceX’s Falcon 9 and it’s a big step for India’s private space ambitions.

So what makes it special: simply put, it’s the first satellite in the world to combine two powerful imaging technologies into one. Most satellites either struggle at night or can’t see through clouds.

Mission Drishti solves that. It can capture sharp images of Earth anytime, day or night, rain or shine.

Think of it like upgrading from a regular camera to one that works perfectly in every condition. This means more reliable and consistent data, no matter the weather.

Why does this matter: because this kind of data is incredibly useful. From tracking defence activity and border movement to monitoring crops, disasters, ships, and infrastructure, Mission Drishti can do it all.

Big picture: the demand for real-time Earth data is booming globally. Mission Drishti puts Indian startups like GalaxEye on the global map and strengthens the country’s push towards becoming a major player in the space-tech economy.
